Social Media Marketing for HBO MAX


In these spec posts, I largely leaned into meme formatting and a slightly irreverent tone to engage HBO’s audience with the type on internet humor that has proven successful across social media platforms. The purpose is to advertise current and upcoming content, as well as drive traffic to HBO’s archive of popular television.

1.     Recently, the internet has become infatuated with Pesto, a juvenile penguin at the Melbourne zoo that’s already larger than both his parents. Who is also a big penguin? Oz Cobb from HBO’s The Penguin. There’s a trend which posts Pesto alongside an audio clip which says, “I would like to see the baby.” This TikTok piggybacks on that trend.

2.     This would be posted to X soon after the Vice-Presidential Debate.

3.     This would be a seven slide Instagram post for Oct 3rd, National Boyfriend’s Day.

4.     This X post would be introducing HBO’s audience to the Game of Thrones spin off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, set to release in 2025.
